Jazmine Sullivan
Jazmine was born and raised from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her mother Pam is a former backing singer at Philadelphia International Records. Her father offered her the position of curator for the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She along with her family moved in to the historic landmark. The 2005 graduate of Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts where she was an instructor of vocal music. Sullivan had a role as contralto in the children's choir and, a few more years later as a member of the adult chorus. Sullivan did not get familiar with secular music until first. "When when I was eleven years old, I was approached by someone asking me to register for the gospel recording. I refused to take that step," she says. "Then McDonald's offered a competition to children from major cities. It was then that I had the chance to perform the Grace of God on Showtime Apollo. The crowd was supportive." Stevie Wonder sang her part for her son's 13th birthday celebration. Sullivan began her contract with Jive Records at the age 15. At the age of 15 she signed with Jive Records. They recorded her entire album there, but it was not released. Sullivan was then removed from the label. There was a close relationship with Missy Elliott, who produced some of the songs on her debut album, which included the hit single "Backstabbers" composed by Timbaland and composed by Elliott.
