The early achievements of Maureen FitzSimons in the performing arts, which is now known as Maureen O'Hara, would certainly be a qualifier for her place in the "child prodigy" category. But for a young Irish girl who was surrounded by gifted parents and extended family, these traits came as a naturally. Maureen came to this loving sanctuary on August 17th, 1920. She was raised by her parents and family members. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lulburn FitzSimons was a talented contralto. Her father, Charles FitzSimons, managed the business of Dublin and was also the owner of the renowned Irish football team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd daughter from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this amazing family. Maureen was a star athlete and enjoyed playing rough sports. Her ability to perform perfectly complemented her interest in sport. This was apparent that she was the winner of each Feis in drama and theatre that Ireland had to offer. At the age of 14, she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and allowed her to live out her passion for classical theatre as well as singing opera.
